For many years my mother worked in sales and lived out of a suitcase as she traveled the country, but that didn't stop her from doing some of the most beautiful needlepoint and cross-stitch work I've ever seen. When she retired, she quickly filled up the walls of her home and kept the local frame shop in business. After she had given favorites to her children and filled every white space in her home, she decided to start making quilts, but instead of just sewing the pieces of fabric together, she cross-stitched or needlepointed squares that would be sewn together by the town's quilting expert.

How do you sew a rolled hem?

Raw edges of fabric are prone to fraying and they look unfinished.

1) If it doesn't move, then you paint it!

2) Your kids bring flower covered scrapbooks instead of binders to school.

3) You wear a glue gun holster... you just never know when something will need hot glue.

4) You house is full of scrap fabrics, papers, threads, wool, beads, broken vases, old wooden boxes, glue gun sticks.... these are not scraps to you, these are potential craft projects.

5) Your side of the table, is piled high with craft ideas, pictures and articles, and half done crafts.

I was sorting through my attic recently and I came across the bead collection I've had since I was a teenager. Where once these beads were neatly sorted into separate compartments, now they are a mix and match effect, having been thrown around during too many moves.
